Press Conference 10/10/2007
The City of Athens will fill with cheerful, colourful
Hearts
A new Public Art Event will grace the city of Athens in
January 2008.
"Loud Heartbeats will be heard throughout the city
of Athens win the beginning of the new year with the opening of the Public Art Event
Hearts in Athens 2008!"...
This was the first phrase of the greeting of Mrs Sophie
Daskalaki - Mytilineou (Chairman of Cultural Organism of Municipality of Athens) in the
first Press Conference that took place on Wednesday, 10 October 2007 for the Public Art
Event Hearts in Athens '08, at the King George Palace Hotel.
Hearts in Athens '08 is a Public Art Event, whose aim is
to familiarize the citizens with distinctive works of art, in the form of Hearts that will
fill the streets, the squares, the parks and the underground stations of Athens with
colour.
The Event's objectives and targets were developed
throughout the Press Conference by the representatives of Hearts in Athens '08, the
curator of the Exhibition Mrs. Iris Kritikou, representatives of the Grand Sponsors of the
Event and the Chairman of the Charity Union "Together for Children", Mr Ioannis
Papadatos.
During the Press Conference the two first sculptures that
were designed for Hearts in Athens '08 were presented. The metal one was designed by the
Sculptress Aphroditi Litti, who also drew the design of the Heart on which the Sculptures
are based upon, and the other one, in a live performance, by the painter Eva Koliopantou.
The Event Hearts in Athens '08 has been placed under the
auspices of the Municipality of Athens, with the collaboration of the Cultural
Organization of the Municipality of Athens.
Hearts in Athens '08 has been embraced by two Grand
sponsors: the brand DELTA Daily of Vivartia and the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Center of
Athens "Hygeia".
Hearts in Athens '08 exhibits will remain in the city
from the 21st of January until the 19th of March 2008. On April 14th,
the Hearts will be auctioned with a big Farewell Party, donating the 50% of the auction's
proceeds to the Charity Union "Together for Children".
