ANASA - Greek Eating Disorders
Association
Sculpture: KARDITSA MOU!
Artist: Natalia Tsoukala
ANASA is the first non-profit organization in Greece that
was established in order to inform, prevent and support the individuals that suffer from
eating disorders. It was the initiative of a group of specialized scientists and of the
actress Zeta Douka, who has suffered from the disease, and is supported by the
Municipality of Athens.
Natalia Tsoukala was born in Athens in
1980. She studied photography in Focus and Nottingham Trent University in England. She
lives and works in Athens as a photographer. Her sculpture is a spontaneous and fun game
of words: kardia ('heart' in Greek), Karditsa (a Greek town), karditsa ('little heart' in
Greek). The sculpture is 'dressed' with the map of the area of Karditsa, with the red
roads symbolizing the arteries of the heart and the streets of Karditsa at the same time.
A heart from Karditsa for the Heart of Athens and the hearts of the children!
Art Workshop of Chalkis
Sculpture: MY LITTLE HEART...MY HEART!
Artist: Childen's Team Project of the Workshop (Teachers: Eleni Deli & Kostas
Michalos)
The Art Workshop of Chalkis, is founded
by the Mayor Ioannis Spanos and the painter Charikleia and Dimitris Mytaras in 1978. Its
purpose is the cultural and artistic development of the city. The first Fine Arts class
for adults is formed in 1979. Classes in the creative activity are established for
children from 7 to 18 years of age in 1981. Theatrical game, jewellery, photography and
pottery are additional subjects. In June 1981 a society is founded under the name
"Chalkis Cultural Center".
The heart of the Art Workshop of Chalkis,
cheerful, musical, part of a fairy tale, with thousand eyes and thousand faces, smells of
flowers and sea. Using pop elements and referring to Keith Herring and native-Americans,
children created a three-dimensional creative symphony that "speaks directly to the
heart"
Atelier Spyros Vassiliou
Sculpture: VASSILIOU HEART
Artist: Artistic Team of the Atelier - Drossoula Vassiliou Eliot, Sophia Papadopoulou,
Sandra Berten
Atelier Spyros Vassiliou, located in the actual home and
atelier of the painter just under the Acropole, re-combines the artistic course of one of
the most famous Greek artists. The Museum opened its doors in 2004, exhibiting 120
characteristic works by Spyros Vassiliou in specially designed spaces.
The view from the windows and the roof, objects and
figures from the everyday life, the space that was created in order to host his artistic
action, the frames and the colours play a key role in the work of Spyros Vassiliou as they
are transformed into objects of observation that capture the eye and lead to the themes of
his choice. Vassiliou Heart reflects the aura of all the above, as it is draped with a
collage of representative works of the artist.
Evangelos Averoff - Tossizza
Foundation
Sculpture: HEARTS OF METSOVO
Artist: Children's Art Workshop of the Foundation (with the supervision of Katerina
Dellaporta)
The Children's Art Workshop of the
Evangelos Averoff - Tossizza Foundation operates in an especially designed space, at the
heart of the Museum. The regular creativity programmes of the Workshop are addressed
mainly to the children of the specific area, who participate free of charge in organized
circle of meetings. The aim of these programmes is to give to the children the opportunity
to learn about art, to experiment with different materials and techniques, to express
themselves and to feel the joy of creation.
By working on the heart for Heart2Hearts,
the children of Metsovo combine contemporary art with tradition: the textiles of Metsovo
are known all over Greece, and the children come in direct contact with them. The proposed
sketch was inspired by these textiles and was materialized by the team of the Children's
Art Workshop of the Evangelos Averoff - Tossizza Foundation.

Filoi tou Pediou
Sculpture: The Power of Love
Artist: Stratis Mentakis
With a number of solo exhibitions and
many group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, and with several international honorary
exhibitions and awards, Stratis Mentakis has received important critiques for his work
from Greek and foreign art critics and theorists. As Paolo Bellezza notes, the works of
Stratis Mentakis 'do not belong to the space of logic, are full of mystery, project a
strange charm, and for these reasons they fit into our century'. According to professor
George Markou, Founder of the Museum of the Greek Nobel Collection, the recent dreamy
landscapes of Mentakis are different, 'they speak out his heart, referring to the
catastrophic fires of last summer in Greece that deeply influenced all Greek citizens and
especially those who closely lived the tragedy, like Mentakis himself.
In the same manner, his work for Heart2Hearts moves along
an abstractive space, where infinitesimal variations of red co-exist, symbolizing the
incidences as well as the emotions of the artists.

universal dimension of Hellenism and the promotion of its contribution to cultural
evolution. Its aim is the understanding of the past may as a point of reference for the
formation of the present and the future and that contemporary thought may once again be
inspired by the Hellenic spirit. Hellenic Cosmos, the cultural centre of the Foundation of
the Hellenic World, is one of the most complete museum areas of Athens. It is an ultra
modern, living museum of Hellenism, across the science, arts and every aspect of society:
it aims to be a source of information that satisfies the needs of contemporary
"society of knowledge".
The heart designed depicts the Ancient Agora of Athens
which constituted in Antiquity the centre of the city's life. Here the miracle of Ancient
Athens was accomplished. Here walked the philosophers, the politicians, the merchants, the
judges. Here was the birthplace of democracy. Today, at the "Tholos" of the
Hellenic Cosmos, and at the exhibition "Meeting at the Ancient Agora" visitors
learn about the Ancient Agora and witness the ideological, philosophical, political,
social and artistic reality of Ancient Athens that transcended time. The Ancient Agora of
Athens is the beating heart of the city, both past and present.

the artist has evolved through the various important periods in his or her career, to
explain the various techniques used by the artist to express his or her vision, and to
help the visitors connect to both the artist's life and work. To accomplish this, not only
will works of the artist be on exhibit, but also preparatory sketches, drawings,
photographs and personal items. Audiovisual and other aids provide complete and detailed
information on the life of the artist, each phase of his or her work, and his or her
techniques. In addition to the permanent collections, the museum "Herakleidon,

to the unmatchable, restless ideal: the universe is as it is in order for us to exist, in
order for our heart to beat as it does. But in order for us to exist we need love, and the
games of love make our hearts beating faster. Let us play, then. A restless heart is maybe
for another universe, but in our universe in neds to be beating. For ever.
