A new Public Art Event graced the city of Athens in 2008.

Hearts in the World introduces a new Public Art Event, inaugurated with Hearts in Athens 2008, where sculptures of Hearts abandon the closed spaces and are transported into the street, under the sky, without entry fees, without walls, without roofs.

Heart sculptures in various shapes and size, sponsored by the business community were painted, sculptured or artfully transformed by painters, sculptors, graffiti artists, designers and other aspiring creators and were exposed in pre-selected, busy parts of the city.

Multi-coloured, red, white, luminous, sculptured, romantic, in Love artistic hearts used as an art media, climbed into the lamp posts, swam into water fountains, filled the streets and the squares of Athens.

We admired them, we loved them and we judged them.

We touched them and they touched us with their sensitivity and their messages.

Strolling by, we fancied them, we stopped to take a picture of them, and we looked for them throughout the city.

The rights of Hearts in Athens, as well as the responsibility of organisation and co-ordination of the Event, is undertaken by the Consortium Hearts, constituted from the companies Goldair and Comm Group
