Hearts in Athens

Hearts in Athens '08 aims at the highest involvement of the citizens in this Public Art Event which will beautify the city of Athens and, to this end, runs an exhibition within the exhibition, named Heart2Hearts, common to all Hearts in the World Exhibitions.

We invite to this project Museums, Institutions, and Cultural and Social Organizations from all over Greece to show their support. Through their inspiration and sense of humour they are invited to transform a wooden Heart into a work of art (individual artist participation or group participation of a Museum/Institution) and dedicate it to Hearts in Athens '08.

For this purpose, Hearts in Athens '08 offers to the participating bodies wooden, two dimensional Hearts (1.25m x 1.30m), which the artists or group of artists will have the chance to use as a canvas and create a unique piece of art.

These Hearts will be placed inside Arcade Arsaki in the centre of Athens, and after the completion of this Public Art Event they will be auctioned alongside the artists' fibreglass and metal sculptures of Hearts in Athens '08. The Joint Venture Hearts will donate the 50% of the Auction proceeds to the Greek Charity Association TOGETHER FOR CHILDREN.

  2. Museum of Greek Children's Art with a children's team
  3. Pediki Stegi with the artist Yiorgos Aleksandrakis
  4. National Opera of Greece with a team of artists from their stage construction department
  5. Hara with the artist Penny Geka
  6. Evangelos Averoff-Tossizza Foundation with the Children's Artistic Workshop
  7. Municipal Gallery of Athens with the artist Eftychia Tsoulouhopoulou
  8. Social Work Foundation-Hatzipaterion with the artist Daniela Knop
  9. Herakleidon, Experience in Visual Arts with the artistic team of the Museum
  10. Spastics Society Athens - (Cerebral Palsy Greece) with the artist Amarildo Topallis
  11. Museum of Greek Folk Art with the artist Velissarios Voutsas
  12. Hellenic Association for Guides with the artists Irini and Lou Andritsi.
  13. Panhellenic Juvenile Diabetes Union with the artist Aleksandra Isakidi
  14. Cultural Centre of Chalkida - Art Workshop (Hariklia Mytaras) with the children's team of the Centre
  15. Pnoe - Friends of Children in Intensive Care with the artist Marina Stellatou
